Отбеливающий Карандаш Hollywood Smile
Trying for that Hollywood smile? Then beware – some teeth whitening kits contain dangerous levels of bleach.
The high prices charged by dentists mean many people are turning to kits supplied over the internet or are using untrained staff in beauty salons.
But trading standards officers warn the bleach levels are up to per cent higher than the maximum legal limit for kits sold to the public.

Strong bleaching gels can cause mouth infections, blistering and burns to gums, damage to nerves and tooth enamel and gum-shrinking.

The Local Government Association is calling for tougher penalties on those selling dangerous kits and on unqualified teeth whitening practitioners.
It also wants the Government to raise consumer awareness of the dangers of illegal operators performing the treatment and home-based kits with dangerous amounts of bleach.
One council alone – Hillingdon in west London – has seized more than 15, dangerous teeth whitening kits bound for shops, salons and homes in nine months.
Some of the kits contained more than 33 per cent hydrogen peroxide.
The maximum legal limit for use by the public in the UK is per cent, or 6 per cent for dentists and other registered practitioners.
Last month, four illegal practitioners were prosecuted for carrying out or advertising teeth whitening services.
Some were unaware that they were breaking the law – including a former NHS nurse who advertised teeth whitening services on Facebook, wrongly believing that completing a course certified him to practise.
Illegal DIY teeth whitening kits may promise fast results and a brighter smile but those containing dangerous levels of hydrogen peroxide are the equivalent of brushing with bleach
Simon Blackburn, LGA’s Safer and Stronger Communities Board
In Essex, trading standards officers found clinics using toxic chemicals in teeth whitening products with times the legal level of bleach.
A man who sold teeth whitening products with peroxide levels up to times the legal limit was jailed for 16 months after being prosecuted by Essex trading standards for misleading consumers and for breaches of the Cosmetic Product Regulations Act.
Councillor Simon Blackburn, chairman of the LGA’s Safer and Stronger Communities Board, said: ‘People need to be made more aware of the laws and dangers on teeth whitening, with rogue practitioners given tougher sentences and larger fines.
‘Illegal DIY teeth whitening kits may promise fast results and a brighter smile but those containing dangerous levels of hydrogen peroxide are the equivalent of brushing with bleach and can put oral health at risk.
‘Trading standards are determined to remove any DIY teeth whitening kits with dangerous levels of hydrogen peroxide from the market and will always seek to prosecute those involved in making and selling them.
These whitening kits are enabling unlicensed practitioners, including some beauty salons, to cash in on the treatment, and some are using illegal gels.’
CASE STUDY: 'TEETH WHITENING COST ME MY FRONT TEETH'
Kellie Taylor lost her front teeth after botched cosmetic dental treatment by an unlicensed beautician.
She admitted she 'didn't even think about what could go wrong' after spotting an offer for a £65 course of tooth whitening at a beauty salon in Lancaster in February last year.
But the year-old was unaware that the rogue technician had no idea what she was doing - and what seemed like a good deal on paper would leave her without four of her front teeth.
It would later transpire beautician Natalie Kowalczyk - who had no dental qualifications - used a peroxide which weakened Ms Taylor's gums, leaving her dentist with no option but to pull her teeth out.
Kellie Taylor saw an advert for teeth whitening but was horrified when the beautician, who had no dental qualifications, used peroxide.
It weakened her gums meaning her dentist had to pull out four front teeth
Kowalczyk was offering the treatment despite the law clearly tooth whitening must only be carried out by registered dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists and clinical dental technicians working to the prescription of a dentist.
She has since admitted unlawfully practising dentistry, and been ordered to pay compensation to Ms Taylor.
But Ms Taylor said she has wrecked her confidence and left her facing more expensive treatment to restore her appearance.
She said: 'I went to have it done for pure vanity reasons and it left me scared of leaving the house for people seeing what I looked like.
'There was offer on tooth whitening and it sounded like a good deal so I went along and didn't even think about what could go wrong.'
Team leader Ms Taylor now relies on a plate with two false teeth attached which she has to glue into place in her mouth.
The mother-of-two added: 'It's a huge inconvenience and it doesn't matter how natural they look, I know they're not my own teeth.
Kowalczyk was sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £ compensation to Kellie for her pain and suffering after admitting the offence at Lancaster Magistrates Court.
She also had to pay £65 to reimburse the cost of the treatment, which was carried out at Jo & Cass salon.
